Invisalign: Your Path to Straighter Teeth

Do you desire straighter teeth but don't want to wear metal braces for years? The process of achieving a beautiful, straight smile doesn’t have to be a painful or lengthy process.  In fact, you can achieve a perfect smile in Dr. Boyse’s Mesa dentist office with Invisalign.

 Advantages of Invisalign

Not only does Invisalign allow you to straighten your teeth discreetly due to the invisible nature of the clear aligners, but it also offers numerous advantages over traditional or metal braces.

Benefits of Invisalign include:

  • Ability to remove the aligners when you want

  • Brushing and flossing your teeth with ease, which provides for improved periodontal health

  • No difficulty eating your favorite foods, such as apples, chips, pizza, nuts and more

  • Invisalign is virtually invisible, which is why it has become the more aesthetically pleasing option for patients who desire straighter teeth and a perfect smile

  • Improved comfort as aligners are made of smooth plastic rather than metal

  • Fewer visits to an orthodontist that disrupt your schedule and cause you to miss work or school

How Invisalign Works

Once Dr. Boyse has determined that you are a good candidate for Invisalign, he’ll collect detailed photographs of your teeth and digital x-rays. From there, Dr. Boyse will develop a complete treatment plan and Invisalign will create your custom-made clear aligners, also called trays. Once your trays arrive, we’ll be ready to begin the straightening process.

Each set of Invisalign aligners needs to be worn an estimated 22 hours a day for 1-2 weeks. Wearing your aligners for this amount of time will help move your teeth into their final position for each tray in the treatment series. The aligners are created so that your teeth move in small increments at a time. Each new aligner will be slightly straighter than your teeth, which will apply pressure, so that over the course of the week your teeth move to align with the tray. As you graduate to new aligners your teeth will continue to move, little by little until they have straightened into their final position.

During the straightening process you will see Dr. Boyse once every 6-10 weeks to ensure your treatment is progressing as planned. Total treatment time varies, but most cases are usually complete within 12-18 months. Typically, you can expect to wear 20-50 aligners over the course of your treatment, but as with total treatment time the number of aligners worn varies from case to case.
